How to Replace Your AC Filter - DIY
Summer is here! That means your AC unit will be used in full force. To make sure your unit is running as efficiently as possible, cleaning or replacing your filter may be necessary. AC filters should be changed every 3 months or so, depending on the type of filter you have. First, make sure you know what type of filter you need. You can find this in your HVAC manual. The manufacturer should provide which type and size is best for your unit. If you already have a maintenance plan, the filter replacement should be included in your plan. If you still aren’t sure what kind of filter you should purchase, take note of the brand and the model number. Give us a call and we can guide you in the right direction to find the correct filter size.
Now to actually change your filter:
1. Make sure your unit is OFF!
2. Remove the access panels to get to the filter.
3. Remove the old filter.
4. Insert the new filter-be sure to pay extra attention to the arrows on the sides of the filter- they will tell you what direction the filter should be inserted.
5. Put the access panels back on, and turn the unit back on.
