Fire Safety Precautions Every Restaurant Should Know

Published July 26th, 2019 by Tripleo

Did you know? 59% of restaurant fires are from cooking. Most are small and can be contained, but are caused by failure to upkeep and maintain the kitchen exhaust system.  A blog post about fire safety wouldn't make sense without highlighting one of our local coffee spots:  Fuego Coffee. Recently we replaced their exhaust pipes and it got us thinking that some other business owners might want to consider the same. Some crucial fire safety precautions should you be aware of are as follows:

  • Class K fire extinguishers are necessary and required by law

  • Wet chemical fire suppression systems in commercial kitchens

  • All electrical equipment should be upkept and maintained regularly

  • Keep deep fryers AWAY from open flame equipment

  • Have the kitchen exhaust system regularly maintained and inspected to prevent grease buildup

  • Conduct regular inspection of fire alarms

Always advise a professional when in question of any of your kitchen equipment. We have 16+ years of experience and are only a call/text away. To set up a preventative maintenance plan for your kitchen equipment needs, call the shop at 888-705-0001. Happy cooking!
